Shiny Toy Guns

.. are creators of my new favorite song. This would be a great Rock Band song!

The video is over the top. I think it's funny!

This is NOT the original fredde le grand video, but whoever created it found some awesome footage of some burlesque shows. No nudity here, just stunts. The woman in the red outfit is amazing, and the somersault one too!!

I'm going to try to keep a sketchblog. We'll see how that goes.

I just got my Wacom tablet all hooked up, and my Adobe Creative Suite all properly installed (I had all this stuff installed on my old compy, but not my shiny new laptop... and I can't stand to be in the office anymore, so I had to relocate to my lappy. Her name is Pachalappy.)

So, here's my first sketch on my Wacom tablet in months. Possibly a year, or more. It was fun!

Creepy all-seeing eyeball.

Cool vid

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZmrRbmgvrA
I think the song has its moments, but this is worth watching/listening for the video.  They are Swedish but there is a certain Seattle sound to it.  Maybe it's the depressing, long winters....

Playground romance unfolds, Peanuts style, in "Hold it in":

Now here is a genius who happened to make music.  Not that his tunes are incredibly catchy, but they are incredibly experimental.
And an equally difficult-to-watch video to go along with it.  This is the same artist that encoded weird things into his songs....  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windowlicker

This has been matching my mood the best lately.
Badass and beautiful, with excellent rhythm.

Speaking of rhythm, this kind of thing takes my breath away when it's live.  I love surprises, so something like this on a street corner...  It would be the best day of my life.

I actually DID see "Kodo" live when I was very young, and they came to play in Pittsburgh.  My dad thought they were so neat he bought their album to prove he was there.  And, yes, they really are this cool:
Careful if you're at work, there's a sort-of naked guy at 1:15.  There is naked butt.

The sexy, modern version of "Tron":

And goddamn this super-catchy song.  Warning, it's a "butt video".  I want to have a behind like that...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bd9Z_MwzBgw

LoveLikeFire

"William"
The video is really the star here. The song mostly plays like a soundtrack for the video. Such a sad story, but so beautiful.... I wonder why they chose the name William. Is there someone the songwriter knew named William who had a broken heart?

Pi

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqGOFH42-XQ
This is a crazy trippy video about Pi. I was with them until the mop. Glenn found it on onegoodmove.org.

Bollywood

I have no apologies. Bollywood ROCKS.

I want to live in this world, with these colors and this music. Yup.

Why does no one dance anymore? All I want are friends who will dance with me....

Revival

Time to revive the Blog. I haven't typed in one of these thingys for years.

So, still don't know if I've been accepted to UW SAFS. I thought I would find out during my trip to Peru (which was March 6-17 and I have yet to post pictures), but I did not.

I love music videos. I am obsessed with music and pretty visual things, and dancing. Music videos are like short, sweet movies, with less of the dialogue that always gets in the way.

Empire of the Sun is a relatively new band with a FANTASTIC video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmM2RwlxGt0
It reminds me of late 70's sci-fi art. For example:

Lady Gaga has some fun songs, but she cannot act. Then again I love ham. Here's a fun song, great for movin' booty, that shows how some artistic editing hides the fact that she can't act: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M65zI9LH-as

The first 20 seconds of this video are PERFECT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAoPJxTvZOQ&NR=1

This one too (video fail...), but this was one of my top 5 favorite songs in college, so the beat has some special memories for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ab9wUcxoFQ

And the Coup de Gras. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=862dqXV9lEU&feature=related I have never met a Peter Fox video I didn't like. I need to hire his artistic director to choreograph my LIFE. Here's the one that started it all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdtLCfEcPL4 This is probably the coolest video ever, which is appropriate because it's one of the most bad-ass songs ever. The best part of the video comes at 1:00. Hooray for pyrotechnics!
